Celebrating Black History Month

SERVPRO has launched the One Spectrum Employee Resource Group in an effort to strengthen leadership ranks, promote progressive change, and social healing.

You may think to yourself, what’s so special about the month of February? It's the shortest month of the year and love is in the air with Valentine’s Day approaching, but one of the most significant events is the celebration of Black History Month. The first celebration of Black History Month took place in February 1970. Within six years, it was recognized nationally.

This month-long celebration gives everyone a chance to reflect on the history of African Americans, from their many achievements to the struggles they endure to this day. Over 50 years later, we continue to set this time aside to reflect on those who have excelled, overcome, and made history.

SERVPRO values opportunities for teammates of color and embraces all backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and knowledge. As part of its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program (DEI), SERVPRO has launched the One Spectrum Employee Resource Group in an effort to strengthen leadership ranks, promote progressive change, and social healing. This group, founded in 2018, includes 6 members—Cathy Moore, Ethan Dunham, Felicia Roberts, Mark Bristol, Donna Dutton, and Spencer Button. Their mission is to have an "inclusive group driving the DEI initiative for the HQ teammates of color while working with the SERVPRO LLC leadership and its HQ community to establish a new path for cultural progress, inclusion, and success."
